Philly Eateries to Warm You Up
Philly Eateries to Warm You Up
When you think shorter days & colder nights, there are a few restaurants which are top of mind for a place to warm up and enjoy some comfort food. Phillyliving.com rounded up some favorites from around the city so get ready to book on OpenTable, bundle up and get ready for a warm meal!
-
Dandelion: Stephen Starr’s staple British pub just off of Rittenhouse Park is one of our personal favorites. The fire in the entry area is the perfect spot to warm up with a drink, or cozy up before being seated. Suggestion: Come on Sundays & get the traditional roast with Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, veggies & more.
-
R2L: You’re all the way up! Located on the 37th floor of Two Liberty Place it’s important to come here on a clear, crisp day so you can see for 40+ miles around Philadelphia. It’s suggested to arrive just before sunset to enjoy the stunning colors before the lights of the city shine bright after the sun is gone.
-
Bibou: A bit off of the beaten path, but absolutely worth it to step away from the hustle of Rittenhouse, or even Passyunk Avenue, and into a warm, quaint dining room just off of 8th Street. It’s chef’s tasting menu BYOB with just two seating options on weekends. The menu changes weekly and alert the staff of any allergies prior to your reservation!
-
Vetri: Everyone has heard of Marc Vetri and his famous namesake, Vetri on Spruce Street just south of Midtown. On a cold night, it’s beautiful to look out the large windows in the front to frost on the panes or even a delicate snowfall! This is another tasting menu only however if you are able to snag a reservation for an a-la-carte night, you’re able to choose…but it’s always better when the chef prepares the menu and your dining experience!
-
Good King Tavern: Whether you’re escaping the chill of the day, or night; Good King Tavern has an excellent menu for both brunch and dinner. This is a French flare restaurant so you’ll see items such as mussels (amazing, definitely order them!) steak frites & escargot.
-
Vernick: Difficult to get a reservation however well worth the wait. Downstairs at the bar is a perfect place to watch the snow fall…let’s face it, it’s coming soon! The upstairs dining room is romantic and warm plus the wine and food list is enough to warm anyone up!
-
Cafe Lutecia: Walk in the front door and you are immediately transported to Paris! The couple who owns the cafe are French and speak to one another in French – plus all items on the menu are bites you’d find at a small bistro in the heart of Paris. The tomato soup is a personal favorite and perfect for those chilly afternoons. This is mainly a breakfast & lunch stop however on Tuesdays they serve dinner & it’s BYOB!
-
Parc: Overlooking Rittenhouse Park, Parc is the epitome of where to go to warm up and celebrate the holidays! Once the tree is lit in the park this is the spot where you pull up at the bar, order a glass of bubbly and toast the winter season! Of course, the french onion soup is a must!
-
Royal Boucherie: Only having opened last fall, this is still a top restaurant for warmth & comfort. A dark French feel with an eclectic French menu, Royal Boucherie is where you want to go for a romantic date, a fun dinner with friends, or brunch the morning after a long night as they have a dedicated cocktail menu just for brunch! Need we say more?
- Bistrot La Minette: Are you seeing a theme here…French, French & more French! There’s nothing better on a cold day than a glass of a French bordeaux and some French fare in the form of steak frites, french onion soup or mussels!
